Los desarrolladores de eMule nos sorprenden con una nueva actualización del programas de pares más popular del momento.

Para quien aún no lo sepa eMule es un programa de pares libre, bajo licencia GPL y que se nutre de la extensí*sima red de servidores eDonkey.

La nueva versión solventa un problema existente en la versión anterior con los menús contextuales a los usuarios de Windows 98.

Tan solo será necesario actualizarse si estás usando Win98.

Una de la caracteristicas más importantes es el nuevo "Protocol Obfuscation" que sirve para que eMule no sea identificado (es practicamente un encriptado del mismo para esconder la transferencias de datos entre eMules)
Algo que se estaba esperando por parte de los usuarios que sufren filtarado por sus ISPs por medio de la identificacion del protocolo.

No aumenta el anonimato, no lo hará invisible, es un ocultamiento discreto.

Vendrá activado por defecto, así que si no lo queremos utilizar debemos desmarcar la casilla.

Esto está en Preferencias-> seguridad

Unfortunatly bugs always have the worst timing and shortly after the release of 0.47b a bug in Kad's packet processing was found which we believe to be potentially exploitable. To avoid any risk we deceided to release eMule 0.47c as a hotfix. We strongly recommend you to update as soon as possible. Please note that also versions older then 0.47b are affected. Additionally some bugs in Kad2.0 were found which needed immediate attention.

En el día que cumple sus primeros cinco añitos de vida, por lo menos desde que Merkur tuvo su idea, se ha lanzado la versión oficial 0.48a
Ya esta disponible tanto en el botón Downloads, descarga directa, como en el botón Content-DB, a través de la versión que tengáis instalada.
Recordad que se puede instalar en el mismo directorio que la anterior, en la mayoría de los cortafuegos es necesario borrar y volver a crear los permisos tras la instalación y que si queréis conservar vuestras preferencias anteriores debéis cancelar el asistente de configuración.
Las principales funciones de la nueva version son

* Primer paso hacia Windows vista corrigiendo la mayoría de problemas que Vista tenía con eMule y añadiendo soporte para instalacion multiusuario(para todos los sistemas operativos)
* Soporte para UPnP

The kad firewall state is now split into TCP and UDP. The TCP state is basically the old state, which tests if your TCP port is reachable. The UDP state is new and checks if your UDP port is reachable. For example on Full Cone NAT Routers, without portforwarding you will get TCP firewalled (as before) but UDP open (new). If you have the UDP open state, eMule doesn't needs a buddy any longer and will fully participate in the KAD network and therefore take away the overhead they caused in earlier versions (you still cannot connect to other TCP firewalled clients if you are TCP firewalled yourself).
